Privacy and your data
Updated 25 October 2026
Tapvantage is operated by Snowy Lakes Ltd, 22 St John Street, Newport Pagnell, MK16 8HJ. We are responsible for the personal information we use to run Tapvantage. For privacy questions or a data request, email hello@tapvantage.co.uk.
The public website
The calculator downloads the approved provider catalogue and calculates estimates in your browser. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, card number or banking credentials. Calculator answers are held in the current page, rather than submitted as a lead or saved comparison; closing or reloading the page clears them.
We do not run the site's visitor analytics script or set advertising identifiers. If you choose a light or dark appearance, a local browser preference called tv-theme remembers that choice. You can remove it through your browser's site-data controls.
OpenAI Sites hosts the website. Hosting providers necessarily handle connection information, such as an IP address and request details, to deliver and protect it. The page also loads typefaces from Google Fonts, so Google receives the network request needed to deliver those fonts. These services have their own privacy information: OpenAI and Google Fonts.
If you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. We use it to answer and manage your enquiry. Please avoid sending card numbers, banking passwords, customer transaction details or other unnecessary sensitive information. Incoming email is routed through Mailgun to the Tapvantage team's inbox; its privacy information is available from Mailgun.
Chat comparisons and saved businesses
Chat comparisons can use the approved provider catalogue without connecting a Tapvantage account. The comparison inputs you provide are processed by our service to calculate the result; this does not save a business. Cloudflare hosts the chat connection service and its authorisation storage, while OpenAI Sites hosts the website and saved business records. Cloudflare's privacy information is available from Cloudflare.
Personal features require a connection to your signed-in Tapvantage workspace. ChatGPT sign-in supplies your account identity, and a separate consent step grants the chat connection access to the same saved records you use on the website. We do not link accounts by matching an email address. Necessary security cookies and short-lived connection codes protect this process. You can remove a chat connection through ChatGPT connection settings; removing access does not delete your saved businesses.
When you ask to save a business, we store its name, comparison inputs, optional renewal details and the comparison baseline. Saved comparisons retain their inputs, calculated results and pricing version.
Statement review stores an unconfirmed draft of the extracted figures, the short evidence snippets used to explain them and file metadata. Share only a redacted merchant fee summary with the aggregate turnover, transaction count, period and fees needed for the comparison. Remove cardholder details, full card numbers, security codes, banking credentials and unrelated personal information before attaching it. The original file bytes and temporary download URLs are not stored by the Tapvantage backend. A file attached to ChatGPT is also handled under ChatGPT's own terms and privacy settings. Check and explicitly confirm draft figures before using them in a comparison. Saving a business is a separate choice.
Saved records are scoped to your signed-in account. The authorised Tapvantage owner can access operational records where needed to manage the service. Private research evidence, proposal reviews and approval records are restricted to the owner. Owner review emails use Mailgun; customer comparison emails, provider introductions and general customer email subscriptions are not enabled.
Why we use information
We use account and saved-record information to provide the features you request. We rely on our legitimate interests in operating, securing and supporting this comparison service and responding to enquiries, while limiting information to what those tasks require. Where a feature asks for a separate email opt-in, we record that choice and you can turn it off. We do not sell contact details or submit your information to a payment provider through the public comparison.
Storage and retention
Saved workspace records are held in Sites-managed database storage. They remain until removed through the available account controls or a request to us; saved comparisons and statement drafts do not currently have an automatic expiry. Deleting a saved business removes its profile and comparison baseline. A minimal receipt may remain to prevent an old retry from recreating a deleted record.
We keep enquiries while needed to answer them and resolve any follow-up. Research evidence, approval records and pricing history are kept so we can explain how earlier estimates were calculated. If you request deletion, we will identify what can be removed and explain any record that must be retained. Hosting and email services may process information outside the UK; we do not promise UK-only storage.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct or erase personal information, restrict its use, object to processing or provide a portable copy where the relevant right applies. You can withdraw a consent-based choice without affecting earlier lawful use. We may need to verify a request before acting on it. Contact hello@tapvantage.co.uk.
You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Provider links and changes
Provider links open another organisation's website. Their own privacy and cookie policies apply there. We will update this notice when the service or its handling of information changes.
